Liverpool need a third to really kill the game off. Would be hilarious if WBA got a pen in extra time

sterling ahould've gone off for balotelli tbh.
he's been terrible today like he was against basel.

he's being played way too much, he's young but you can't expect him to be MOTM all the time if you play him that often.

    thank god for that.

not pretty but lets be honest, it was a deserved win.
shame we didn't keep a clean sheet (moreno defs going out of my fantasy team), but the points is what we NEEDED this weekend and we finally got them all.

now we can sity back and enjoy the likes of chelsea, arsenal, everton, united and city battling it out.
if things go as expected we'll be level with arsenal and a point behind united by the end of the weekend.

Good to see our defence didn't collapse after the penalty like United did :P

International break again, but it may have come at a good time for Liverpool, especially now that Sturridge will be rested and be back for the QPR game.

A win's a win, there's no CL or League Cup between now and the next game so we should be back up to full strength by then.

Deserved win tbh. You looked a bit shaky at times but saw it out and showed enough immediately after you scored the 2nd to really deserve it. I thought Gerrard had a good game. Not sure why people are whining so much about Lambert either; he didn't do much, but didn't have much to work with.

Looked better in the second half, moved the ball around well, Gerrard looked good going forward, wasn't even a pen so we could have easily got a clean sheet here, we just need consistency in our defence, pick a back four and bloody stick with it for a few games. Balo looked good when he came on as well

Coutinho still struggling unfortunately, he links well with Sturridge though so hopefully his return brings the best out of Coutinho.

Naturally there is a rather large lemon shaped whole in this thread atm.

Gerrard went up to a no.10 role, that was pretty refreshing tbh.

Cou passes has been off, not sure if Sturridge coming back really effects whether or not his passes reach their man. Though it's possible he'll open up play allowing more space for the pass.

nice sly dig at united there, liking it:cool:

yeah, seriously no excuse not to beat QPR.
sturridge will be back, we will have played no extra games recently and we're simply better than them.
this is the kind of game where the 3 points are meant to be bankers but it's the clean sheet we're looking for.

I wasn't able to watch the last 15/20 mins of the match, how was Gerrard in the no 10 role?

Great to have a win today, Hendo did well with getting a goal and assist I'm really chuffed for him. Nice for Sterling to get an assist as well, I really hope Hodgson doesn't over play him since he really needs a rest.

It'll be a great weekend if Chelsea and Everton win tomorrow!

Don't bet on that :P Rodgers will probably rest him against QPR seeing as we have the Madrid game straight after.

True but for me it's more about the runs he makes. Coutinho's best passes revolve around getting players behind the defence and you need players making the right runs with pace to attempt them/for them to come off. He hasn't had that whilst Sturridge has been out, he'll find his range soon hopefully

2-1 win, not a great performance but all we needed was 3 points. Nice to see Henderson and Lallana scoring. Latter his 1st goal for us. Gerrard played well in the No.10 role when Coutinho went off.

Shame about a penalty which wasn't but it's a terrible foul by Lovren.

Sturridge, Allen and Can should hopefully be back in the QPR match. hopefully nobody gets injured during the internationals.

i agree - the points come first at this stage.
not complaining about the pen; it was almost too close to call and lovren really shouldn't have made such a silly error.

looking forward to having a full strength team again!

typical city scoring two goals late on; not sure how much they deserved them though
did somebody watch the game that could shed some light on that?

we're ahead of villa guys; that's the dream!
srs though, how the hell are we ahead of villa after such an abysmal start by us and such an (apparently) awesome start by them?

chelsea demolition and united slip up tomorrow would make the perfect weekend.

Maybe because they had Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City in four consecutive weeks?

    Such a stupid question
