No, it was not, the associated costs were based on your accounting, and Jammy Duel has extensively explained why they were wrong; let us not start the same debate. Gaming duties generated the British government £2.3bn in 2015, if all establishments receive A* rating, exempting them from paying gaming duties, I am highly doubtful the changes to gaming duties in that bill will cost up to £317.6m.
The costing itself wasn't wrong. How it was going to be paid for was wrong. (on the Housing SOI)

Hey, Australia winning it is the best chance we have of getting to host it in this country.
That's assuming the BBC actually want to host it here. We're looking at spending tens of millions on hosting if we get it.

RBS has an interesting article on it here: http://www.rbs.com/news/2016/may/the...g-contest.html

That wasn't wrong either, there was a dispute between me and Jammy as to whether the revenues from the homes would pay for the GILTs, that was it.

    Ty, I assume QQ then.

I do not know who made the post, but individuals must be a bit dim if they makes posts about the MHoC outside the dedicated forum for the MHoC, expecting the posts to be acceptable.
I think we should be allowed some form of post, perhaps for the entirety of MHoC.

I saw it and reported it, but a Mod said it was okay.
Time to get posting then if it's ok

We had some discussion on this in Ask the Speaker and agreed that there would be such a post - this has been pushed back until after the conclusion of the Speakership election now though, I feel. However, I also remember expressly saying that parties should not make individual threads or something similar to that.

EDIT: Yes, when asked about re-opening a Labour recruitment thread, I said the following:

I think that if we're going for the above idea about one thread for the MHoC, there is no point in doing so and it would be unfair to allow Labour to do so.

You are wrong, the total for ALL betting and gaming duties is £2.3bn but gaming duty has a total revenue of £317.6m
I am doubtful betting duties generates over £2bn when the current situation means premises are paying General Betting Duty, Pool Betting Duty, sometimes Bingo Duty, and Remote Gaming Duty on top of Gaming Duty.

The cost of something does no matter, the important thing is how a project will be paid for, as a government minister whose responsibility is operating a department in the maximum spending constraints set be the Chancellor, it was your job to explain how your department would afford the increases if the Treasury was not going to increase the department's budget for the project.

I don't like to 'lay down the law', but as it's happened now, this needs to be said. A thread was created in my section with the intention of getting a user to do something or other for the Labour Party. This type of thing isn't really OK and in future, if a user does not have their contact methods enabled, they should be left alone as it is clear they do not want contacting. Otherwise, everything by PM please.

    Cheers!

Thank you! We've been trying to tell him it's not okay to be going from door to door like an insurance salesman who's spamming people but he wouldn't listen.

Quamquam123 I hope you now realise that you've been embarrassing your party and now even the whole MHoC.

Machine games duty as well as many others.

The link you offered combined all betting and gaming duties to arrive at £2.3bn, the only 2 duties that my bill was altering were machine games duty and gaming duty, which account for about a quarter of the entire betting and gaming duties receipts.

I'm not denying any of that. I never have. I was just making the distinction between the costing and how to pay for things. They are two different things

You provided no sources for the figures you suggested it would cost, it is reasonable to expect the quoted figure will be larger when it is a major part of the £2.3bn budget.

Again you're wrong, MGD is a larger portion of the £2.3bn budget than Gaming Duties.

As stated, gaming duty is a major pat of the budget, that does not mean it is the biggest; you have still not sourced our figures.

I'm searching for them now but Gaming Duties make up a relatively small portion of the entire betting and gaming duties. £300m out of about £2.3bn

It is a big claim to make when there is no justification for the £300m figure, a quick calculation of the rates against the profit for casinos in the UK produces a larger figure.
