I got my offer for Maths with Economics a couple weeks before xmas, but I'm torn between LSE and Bath! I've heard that the social side to LSE is not very good which concerns me a bit... However LSE is higher than Bath on the tables BUT my offer from Bath includes a masters (Maths with international study). Any advice?!

LSE is academically the better school and has a much better reputation, not only at home but internationally too. Whilst it is true that Bath may have a better social life, don't forget Bath is a small place and so it won't exactly be that lively there too. In London, although the LSE social life may not be the best (this may be a myth), it is still London and there are so many other universities and students studying there. Though it's up to you, I would personally opt for LSE.

I received my rejection letter form Oxford yesterday so I just firmed LSE, quite rushed but I have already thought about it. going over this thread makes me have second thoughts about my decision :frown::frown: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2557290

It all about what you want from a university. If you want to have a good job, go to LSE. If you want social life, go to bath. LSE is only famous and can get you places but apparently, many people aren't enjoying their time there.

Sorry about Oxford. Regarding the thread: LSE is a top level academic institution, not a party school. Obviously it won't be as fun as it would be in lower universities. On the other hand, you will get the brand, the education and the amazing intellectual experience. What is your insurance by the way?

Its UCL(sees) but I am thinking of changing it with Durham. Their Offer is A*AA but LSE is AAA. However, they might still let me in in case i will change my mind by then.

I have a friend who did that too. King's is taking ages to reply...

Good luck with LSE; I know how you feel. After Cambridge's rejection, I don't know how my app will turn out...would LSE be less likely to give an offer? It'd honestly be the only thing that would put me at ease...right now, everything's so uncertain :s-smilie:

Not really, just because Cambridge rejected you doesn't mean LSE will, LSE have high standards and know what they want in an applicant but they aren't the same as Cambridge, I'm sure there have been people who got into Cambridge that got rejected by LSE and vice versa. Each uni is different and will react to each application differently, only time will tell.

Did anyone get an offer today? It's supposedly LSE Thursday...
I got an email saying 'you're a strong candidate... wait another 5 weeks' at the very end of October and no news since... (apart from the Christmas email) :/ I'm starting to get worried!

It's LSE Thursday and Friday now :colondollar:

I got my Oxford rejection last year, I'll be firming LSE. I think the experience will be what you make of it.

There are plenty of us here worrying about the social life, so I guess it'll just be us lot socialising

My sentiments exactly, all I see is people worrying about socialising?! Surely that means there will be lots of people wanting to be social! Especially at such a small univeristy. Anyway you can't judge University on someone else's experiences, you could go to one of most renowned social unis in the country and still end up with awful flat mates!

That's it, it's official LSE Club/Pub Crawl, nightly, every night without fail, for the whole of the first year, let god have mercy on our livers...

Anybody who applied in January also got an email stating that they're considering your PS and qualifications and than after 2 weeks you'll be notified? Should I expect a decision after 2 weeks or just another email telling me to wait couple of weeks?

I applied in December before Christmas break, and I got the 2 weeks email 2-3 days ago. I really think we will end up with another email prolonging the 2 week period, if they still wish to consider us. I don't expect an offer (if any) till Feb the fastest, though rejection can happen anytime

same here! Only got offers from bath and Exeter and got a rejection from Cambridge.. Im so impatient to hear from LSE and KCL too! What course have you applied for?

OMG I applied to all your unis except Exeter...I chose Warwick instead. Hahahah

For Bath I applied for Politics with Economics. You?

I haven't heard from Warwick or KCL since their acknowledgment of the receipt of my app so I don't know what to expect...one of my friends got a reply from KCL really quickly though!
Hey guys, I really want to go into a financial career. Im thinking of doing Accounting and Finance at LSE. What do you think about that? Or can you suggest a better financial career that I can go into?
Anyone got any offers/rejections today?

Anything at all?!!...The waiting is killing me.
At least let me know if they are giving out decisions today!
What the hell man this wait is insanely killing me. I applied to LSE for pure economics in mid-September, gotten the 2 weeks email, followed by another 7 weeks (yes, I got 7 weeks instead of 5 weeks) and then another 2 weeks for the Christmas break. I am getting very very anxious omg.

P.s I am an international applicant from Singapore applying for a deferred entry for year 2015 because of national service
The wait is killing me man wth

SAME here! Applying for Econ as well, but for 2014 entry.
In my 4 (+2 Xmas) weeks waiting period. Still two weeks to go.:s-smilie:

Maybe the deferred entry may take longer, not sure about that... I saw quite a lot Econ applicants are still waiting, nothing can be done but wait

Anyway, good luck!
