well the only way it would have been the real test was if you clicked the "take the test" button or whatever it says on the application dashboard.

If you went on the talentq website and did a practice run then it would be a full length test but it would definitely be a practice.
Yes that's what I did because I couldn't find the link to talentq practice and thought that I can enter it through the dashborad as well. Oh lord.. I'm glad that the questions were getting ridiculously difficult at the end without a logical answer so hopefully I didn't do too bad I was 100% sure it's a practice and answered some of them in like 5 seconds just to rush it to a maths one.. Jeeezz.. I'm so glad I didn't do a maths one last night!!!!
Good luck everyone and don't do a mistake like me lol

I think we should know by the end of this week if we have been shortlisted.

Maybe longlisted, but it'll take a bit longer than that for shortlisting, they have thousands of applications to read.

How many parts/sections are there to the test?

Last year people found out 2 days after the deadline. We should hear back by the end of next week.

Yes the application is what really counts. But that application form has to get read to be worth anything. The better everybody does on the tests, the better you personally have to be in the tests to not be in the bottom ~30% that get cut, without their form even being read. Why do you think they don't tell you pass/fail straight after the tests. They wait to see how you fall within the distribution of everyone, aka the more you help others the worse your own mark becomes.

Unfortunately this scheme is VERY competitive, there are ~50 applicants per place for the specialism I am interested in. I don't want to come across like an ass and a bit of support for each other is great. I just think giving detailed breakdowns of calculations, screenshots asking how to figure things out, is not smart...
How do you know that the bottom 30% are eliminated? Seems a rather low figure to me.

35% of people were eliminated after the tests in 2014. I'm not sure of the statistics for any other years though.

    OK!! Done the assessments
The logical one i found pretty hard, harder than i found the practices
the numerical one i liked more than the practice just couldnt understand one section in the time allotted so game over on that one
    in case anyone cared
anyway, if anyone wants my advice - i felt ready to take the tests a week ago i was just pushing it off because i was too scared.. moral of the story i shouldve done them then! The research shows that more practice does not correlate with results. If you get what you need to do, just do it!
    Good luck to us all!

Do you have the take the logic test and the numerical test at the same time or can you take them separately?

Oh my god, that numerical reasoning test is the most ridiculous thing I've probably done this year. I usually find numerical reasoning a real strength of mine, but I'm not a bloody economist. I'm not trying to be either, I don't see what this position has to do with all these economical situations. It also seems ridiculous to me that some people have not had the tests with overly complicated economical concepts, it could well be that the maths I had to do was painfully simple, but I had no idea what they even wanted me to do on one of the set of 3! I just feel I've completely wasted my time!! Guess I don't have to worry too much about this logical one now as I've probably failed that abysmally!!

Sorry about sounding so negative, it's not like me, but just so annoyed at this!

EDIT: Urgh, thought logical was going alright at one point, but then no. Just.....no

If its getting hard then you're doing well. Its adaptive so as you answer correctly it gets harder. Its made to be like that (I assume to fill everyone with inner most despair). Not answering a couple of questions doesn't mean you won't get through it.

Hopefully we will find out by the end of next week who is going to be longlisted.

Don't worry, guessing I did Uber rubbish as I didn't get any economics questions at all!! Just weird random ones!

Just finished the tests; logical seemed okay, I definitely knew some and definitely made a good guess on others. But oh my god the numerical!!!! It was way harder than the practice and definitely harder than last year (which I passed!), couple of okay answers but then I had to guess quite a few too - so good luck to everyone. It'll all be over soon

I seriously struggled with the practice the first time, so practically nil hope for the real test. Was debating not bothering to sit it at one point

Nooooo!!! You've always got to try. Because if you don't try then there's absolutely no hope, at least if you try, you've got a shot! Everyone seems to be struggling which is almost comforting.

You're not the only one who struggled lol every year this forum is inundated with people applying to various STP schemes and I swear about 50% of the posts are people complaining about the tests! They're designed to be difficult but not impossible. The most important thing to remember during the test is to focus on what the question is asking and not be run-down by a previous question you couldn't answer.
