as others have said, having trials in secret sets a very dangerous precident especially for a nation such as Norway which prides itself on being open and liberal, it might not be nice giving such a man a platform but it just serves to further undermine his cause. although i must say he does have a point his sentance should be death or aquital ... 21years is little more than an insult to the deads memory he'd be gettung under half a year per person killed...

Breivik gave himself a platform the moment he committed the atrocities that he did. There would be media coverage regardless of the content of the trial - the open nature of the trial has just elevated it slightly.

Don't worry, he'll be in prison for life.. People are misunderstanding the whole 21 years thing.
What does it mean then? Is it just a possible minimum?

Under Norwegian law, the maximum sentence that can be given is 21 years. However, release after 21 years is subject to a parole board style hearing judging that the person poses no risk of re-offending - if the board thinks that he is not safe to be let out he can be detained indefinitely.

Hmm, that's not so bad then. Still, I'd be very uneasy about him being able to con the board - I'm guessing he gets assessed again and again should he fail the first time, and he's young and seemingly intelligent enough to have a higher chance than most.
