I think you'd have to be pretty paranoid that whilst being in the pain of having a child the only thing you are worried about is whether the male midwife is checking our your ryvieta or not. lol

I was delivered by a male doctor. I don't understand what the problem is.
You contradicted yourself...

Giving birth is notoriously painful- I probably wouldn't give a **** if a ten limbed mutant delivered my baby, I would just want it all to be over!

That's a new one.

LOL. If I ever go into labour (still not sure I'd want to), I'm aware I'm going to look like crap and probably crap myself in the process because loads of women do and be in the worst pain I've ever expereinced in my life. Whether the person delievering the child was a male or female or even an alien is the last thing I'll notice. :p:

no you're not the only one.

They brought in a male doctor to break my waters when I was being induced with my daughter and I actually did politely tell them that I'd prefer a female. He was perfectly fine with that and they found a female to do it instead.

When I was giving birth to my son though I have no idea who was in the room - must have been about 10 people, and I think they were all female but as it was a very difficult birth I was totally out of it and really didn't see who was there, and I was in no position to argue.

But in situations where I would actually be able to have a say in the matter - as in not life and death ones - I would ask for a female.

Irrational, maybe, but there we go.

I'd be fine with it, but I can see why other people might feel a little uncomfortable! Personally, if I was in that situation, I don't think I would care which gender was being midwife as long as someone was!

Yes I would.

And I would also be asking for all the possible drugs I could have.

Course I would! They're still qualified and it's still their job, and I'd still want to have my baby safely, so yes.
