Really not good.

I have a 1- and 3-year old, if my kids scream like that I take them out of the shop; if they scream on a plane I do everything in my power to help them stop. Ultimately they're people though and you can't 'control' them just like you can't 'control' anyone else in your life.

There IS no other information about the guy who did the slapping, but that he did it more than once does suggest there are more issues kicking around than him just being an irate old bloke. Still never an excuse to hit anyone, let alone a defenceless child.

For those saying they don't care, how about if it was your child?

Exactly this happened to me

Except I was 15

And it was an old woman that slapped me

And it was outside

And I wasn't crying

I was pretty angry at her afterwards though, I hadn't even done anything to deserve it

Well I can understand the view point of the guy, some parents at work have no control of there children.

ha, I was at the doctors this morning with a throbbing headache; classical music blaring at me and then this toddler comes in shuffling all over the floor.

Blondie then continues to pick up two lego bricks and make 'music' as her mother called it. They bring it on themselves

Politically or rep-wise?

Erm, if it was my kid I'd beat that man all around the store. What a loon.

If it was your kid then surely you should have slapped her first.

Of his eardrums?
I'd buy that argument...the kind of pain caused by a screaming child is beyond explanation when you have hyper-sensitive hearing - it still doesn't make it right though.

If that was my child, I would kill him. Nah, I'd hit him back though that's awful!

From CNN
Reminds me of a joke I once heard: a mother is with a child in a supermarket, the child is bawling loudly. Someone goes upto the mother and says "excuse me, have you hit this child?" The mother replies "no," and the other person replies "well, bloody well hit it!"

While I don't think it's right, I can understand how they feel.
