socialising, obviously something you have little experience of
May I point out that this person started a thread about how he/she has no friends...

But moving on... I'm planning to spend about £150-£200 during fresher's, except I have fresher's fortnight so that's going to end up being £300-£400

And yes, I am poor... or will be after fresher's.

I have no idea but I'm scrimping and saving every little penny I can. So about £300.00 absolute maximum. I'll probs spend less than half of that but just in case....

No. I pity you as I expect you will spend fresher's inside playing computer games or working. Have fun lol.
It's more the fact that you are spending £1000. Not many people have that much money they can just throw away. It just seems excessive tbh.

I took £150 to freshers last year from my wages (but had my loan in 3 days into it which I left untouched) and only spent about £70 that week and had the time of my life! Everything was more or less free tbh, or £2 entry fees to clubs, we all had cheap drinks .... although my parents had done a weeks worth of shopping for me the day before freshers began, and I'd bought all my clothes/packed etc...

All my life i have had no friends and i believe it is because of my elongated nose. Many people laugh and its really getting me down.
Its left me with no self confidence.

People laugh at me in the street and I really hate it. Help me TSR!
So you've got 1k and no-one to spend it with. Bless.

You are poor but I like your sig
Well I'm not exactly poor, but I won't be spending too much, it's just one week? Just enough to get into all the events, have few drinks and get some good grub. £200 seems reasonable?

What on earth is your problem? If we don't spend £1000 we are poor and anti social? Let's take a look at scenario A)

Each night you spend £10 on accessories for fancy dress/dolling your self up
£5 on entrance fee to the club
£5 drinks at £2.00 each is £10
A pizza/kebab on the way home £5
A taxi home £5 (depending on distance and sharing costs)

That's a total of £35. Let's multiply that by 5 and we have £175.

Oh look, I've just had a great week and not spent £1000.

I fail to see what else you could buy except more drinks (which is foolish unless you're a real heavy weight) and obviously more money on fancy dress, both of which don't make you any more social.

The only thing I've noticed is that you're the least social on this thread as almost everyone hates you.
Maybe he needs money to buy friends?

£150 is a sensible amount for Fresher week. Personally, I spent a lot more than that on my first freshers week but that did include things other than just nights out - My halls internet connection fee was paid in one massive lump sum, for instance. That alone was £270 I think.

Yeah, I keep forgetting that I'll have to stump up for internet... do you do it on moving in day? Do you need an ethernet cable or do they give you one? Do you need to run any special software before being able to connect?

Some halls actually include it now I think. And they give you the cable, I believe. They'll give you special software but you don't actually need it if I recall.

I'm in Opal 2 so it's not included in the rent Not needing the software is good as I don't have a (functioning) CD drive!

Ah yeah I was in Opal 2. Fairly sure the connection can work fine without using the software. It's a VPN connection. In fact it must work without because my CD drive doesn't work either. What block are you in? I was G Block.

I spent £200-£250 in freshers. If you go out every night, go crazy and buy some things for your room you forgot, stock up on some food and then get societies membership etc then thats quite reasonable.
Be prepared, bringing a little more is probably a good idea as the last thing you want to do is get stuck with money on Week 0!
