SLi and Crossfire produce very little extra performance over a single card set up at lower resolutions. Even at 1920x1200 you'd do better to put your money on a single card solution. IIRC dual card set ups only provide up to 30% more performance over a single card set up using the same card.

Only time I'd go for a dual card set up is if I was a) running more than 1 monitor, b) was running at resolutions of 2560x1920 and c) I couldn't produce fire to burn my money

But it's £40-£50 more than the 4890...
You might as well say 'get a 4870X2 because it trounces the gtx275'. For the price the AMD cards are still better
my bad i wasnt fullyaware of the prices last time i checked the 4870 was still going for 120£

Ah right, yeah recently you can pick up the 512mb version for as low as £90 i've seen, and the 1gb for about £100. The 4890's are as low as £130 atm :woo:

ATI are completely whipping nVidia at that price range.
Except in DX10.

Reading compehension.

I didn't say that they weren't fine with DX10.

I said that they didn't trounce nVidia cards at DX10 at the price point being referenced. If you look at games like Resident Evil 5, actually ATI take roughly a 20-30% fps drop from switching into a DX10 render path, whearas the nVidia cards gain slightly or stay the same.
