    Really simple but really awesome

    Gregoire - Toi Plus Moi

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOru9ITtVIg
lol, my parents hate this song because its the same sort of tune over and over, if that makes sense.

I have to say I don't like it.

    ALOR ON DANSE.....lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJCQDd4vYjg
The start of that song sounds a lot like The Hoosers' new one...

I'm not sure I can think of many 'beautiful' French songs.. most of the French music I've heard is annoyingly catchy pop. :p:

Lol well it is literally four chords repeated, moreover they're the standard ones that you hear everywhere because they sound nice  - I like it coz of the lyrics though and also coz I can play it since it's so simple :p:

Plat Pays by Jacques Brel. Breath-taking.

It's technically Belgian, but I assume you meant French language.

Oooh this is a tough one.
There are many Gainsbourg songs I could choose, but I will limit myself to two: on pure beauty I would have to choose 'Variations sur Marilou'. I listen to it on a loop when I can't sleep sometimes. It hypnotises me.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EelVBOMia2w
Secondly 'Marilu'; bittersweet lyrics, chord sequence that is sort of joyfully painful (makes sense to me). The effective simplicity of song exemplified. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2VfB7Kufs8
Jacques Dutronc - 'L'opportuniste'. Just does something to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_QGBAppb10
Francoise Hardy - 'La premier bonheur du jour'. A right pretty ditty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrHA9gA8qpE
Brel, Brel! (I know, Belgian, but French language). 'Amsterdam' obviously. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYcT2ftVr58
Erm, 'Ce gens la' is up there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfwW76JzVQI
    'Mathilde' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uns_...eature=related

Basically I could go on for hours. And this doesn't really answer your question but to hell with that.

Carla Bruni? You must be joking.

No Jacques Brel so far? This thread depresses me.
