I think everyone secretly watches The X Factor at some point! Although actually today I caught the back-end of ****ing Wagner ruining a song by my favourite band (Radiohead), and then ****ing Katie ruining one from probably my second favourite (REM)- I'd say for this I'm never watching it again, but that'd be a lie(Original post by schizopear)
my boyfriend nearly throws something at the tv everytime someone on x-factor says they're going to sing 'valerie by amy winehouse'
not that we watch x-factor or anything...
It's odd with Valerie because I hated the original, but now whenever I hear it I really don't mind it, because the Winhouse version just drove me mad

In this town, television shuts off at two
What can a lonely rock 'n' roller do?
Oh, the beds are big and the sheets are clean
Your girlfriend said you were 19
There's Styrofoam ice buckets full of ice
Come up to my motel room and treat me nice
I don't wanna make no late night, New York calls
I don't wanna stare at them ugly grass-mat walls
Chronologically I know you're young
But when you kissed me in the club, you bit my tongue
I'll write you a song and put it on my next LP
Come up to my motel room and sleep with me
There's a Bible in the drawer
Don't be afraid
I'll put up a sign to warn the clean up maid
Oh, there's lots of soap and there's lots of towels
Never mind those desk clerk scowls
I'll buy you breakfast
They'll think you're my wife
Come up to my motel room and save my life

Mr. Tambourine Man -
"Then take me disappearin’ through the smoke rings of my mind
Down the foggy ruins of time, far past the frozen leaves
The haunted, frightened trees, out to the windy beach
Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow
Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free
Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands
With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves
Let me forget about today until tomorrow."
I actually sob every time I hear this song. It's a religious experience for me.

How dare the Premier ignore my invitations?
He'll have to go
So, too, the bunch he luncheons with
It's second on my list of things to do
At the top, I'm stopping by
Your place of work and acting like
I haven't dreamed of you and I
And marriage in an orange grove
You are the only thing in any room you're ever in
I'm stubborn, selfish and too old.
I sat you down and told you how
the truest love that's ever found
Is for oneself
You pulled apart my theory
With a weary and disinterested sigh
So yes I guess I'm asking you
To back a horse that's good for glue
And nothing else
But find a man that's truer than,
Find a man that needs you more than I
Sit with me a while
And let me listen to you talk about
your dreams and your obsessions
I'll be quiet and confessional
The violets explode inside me
when I meet your eyes
Then I'm spinning and I'm diving
Like a cloud of starlings
Darling is this love?

And if we live the lie, let's lie in trust.
On golden daffodils, to catch the silver stream
that washes out the wild oat seed on velvet green.
We'll dream as lovers under the stars ---
of civilizations raging afar.
And the ragged dawn breaks on your battle scars.
As you walk home cold and alone upon velvet green.
