Yet you've decided to list Durham in your top ten, which isn't in the Russell Group...:facepalm2:
My top 10? If it was my choice they would be around the 40 mark. Replaced by nottingham(russel group). Notice how I put them last, I'd rather eat my shoe than go to durham. You think aberdeen should be up there? And you're face palming me, wow

All league tables are pretty poor, but the Guardian stands out among them as being exceptionally useless and bewildering.

When you've wisened up and learned a little, you'll soon realise...

Westminster think they're 'world class' as well. :sigh:

    http://www.westminster.ac.uk/study/i...se-westminster
It's not impossible that they do have some world class research, you know.
Not all universities are bad in every aspect. Take UEA for example, not a brilliant university as a whole, but it has a very prestigeous creative writing course I believe.

that really dosn't matter being a russell group uni or a 1994 group, which are small research unis, your russell groups are your big

plus your a undergrad so you won't even go near
to quote wiki which really need to get same baseline infor from
According to the 'Patterns 3' report by Universities UK, "The Russell Group and the 1994 Group share many features, but are distinguished chiefly by the fact that most members of the Russell Group have medical schools, and an emphasis on science and technology. Within the Russell Group a small number of institutions are outliers on the basis of the statistical information available, and if these were excluded from the analysis, the Russell Group and the 1994 Group would show very similar characteristics." It should be noted that several of the 1994 Group institutions also have medical schools and an emphasis on science and technology, so this is not a clear distinguishing feature of the Russell group.
only major one, bigger unis get more research funding, which doesn't affect undergrads anyway as you don't see it, being a russell group means nothing to us

uni becoming more about name at the top of a bit off paper than wanting to go there

league tables are poor, one will tell you this another will tell you that

No ones denying they aren't an entirely arbitrary and useless way of judging universities, but you're forgetting sarcasm doesn't carry in written form, and no amount of 4chan jpgs is going to change that.

Aberdeen? You must be kidding, the others seem reasonable. Aberdeen is at most a top 40 uni.
You took the words out of my mouth! Aberdeen was just randomly stuck in there...
    I should do that!

    Oxford/Cambridge
    Cambridge/Oxford
    Warwick
    UCL
    LSE
    Imperial
    Bristol
    St Andrews
    Durham
Kent... oh wait, how did that get there??

It's ego soothing if nothing else! We should all make up our own league tables... I rather like the idea of UEA/Kent/Rhul/where ever I decide to go being better than Oxbridge... before you neg me, I'm joking! We all know Oxbridge is the best!

RamocitoMorales, no. Just no. Aberdeen isn't in the top 10.

Oh my god! You're right! We've been ranking universities by how good they are academically, but we should actually be doing it by how much their buildings look like a church!

Oh thank you so much for this revelation! You're our saviour! Aberdeen is obviously on par with Oxbridge now!

WOAH Just because your university has good architecture doesnt mean its a top 10 university. I could name 30 other universities that are generally better than Aberdeen.
