Stoke to Birmingham ~ 30 miles
Stoke to Stafford ~ 15 miles

All on main railway line, as is Manchester to the north, Stoke about in the middle between Manchester/Birmingham if wanting the odd big city night out. Although many actually go the other way as it is often less traumatic than big city nightlife.
Well it takes the same time then, VERY ROUGHLY.

Dunno why people always have such a bad name for Stafford, I think it's alright, alright clubs for such a small town - Weatherspoons is ace as it's in an old cinema, and Casa's fine, but Coutures the best place for sure. Also there's a small live rock venue called 'The Grapes' where lots of local bands play, and a cinema literally across the road from couture and The Grapes. If you go out and you're used to bigger venues then just get the train to birmingham.

People who come here from cities generally get stuck onto that way of living, aka, the percieved 'university life'. I hated the place when I came, but now I quite like it.

Yeah, the biggest complaint I've dealt with is people expecting Stafford to be a big and busy city. I went to Stafford knowing it was a Town... and got what i expected. I've had an awesome 5 years here! When i got bored of stafford, i decided not to sit in my room and ***** about it on the internet, me and my friends all did things... like exploring other towns/cities both day and night, theme parks, camping, general piss ups etc. Life is what you make it... As long as you don't expect all the fun just to magically appear in front you, things normally go well
