I spoke to a secondary PGCE course leader yesterday and he said the latest news is that his university has been told they *should* be notified of their funding sometime in February but there is no guarantee of this.

The funding for many quasi-Governmental organisations will run out in March and none of them have been told whether funding will continue either so they have been left with no choice but to issue redundancy notices to their staff.

According to the new education bill that had it's first reading in parliament on Friday (28th Jan) both the General Teaching Council (GTC) in England and Wales and the TDA are to be abolished with their functions being transferred to the relevant secretary of state (England and Wales). It is not clear what impact this will have on bursaries, funding allocations for unis etc. All we can do is wait and see.

Yes I wasn't talking about them though. They have another year to go.

Hi, my boyfriend and myselfhave both applied for pgce's at Worcester uni, his for secondary history and mine for primary. Early january we got letters saying they had issued letter to those who hadnt received offers but cannot give offers out until the tda give them their allocations. Today my boyfriend got a letter stating we wont be finding out for up to another 4 weeks which will be late feb because the tda still havent given the allocations It's really annoying now!! but I do believe every uni is in the same position so no one is at a disadvantage

    Hope this info helps.

    Becca xx
