    its forty-one
    nor fourty-one

    Actually, it's optional

But that is neither here nor there since I was referring to the number and then adding -ty as a suffix.

    Why isn't 11 pronounced "onety-one"?
other numbers such as twenty-one and thirty-one and forty-one etc... are normal
why does the number 11 have to different?
    You, sir, are a genius.

From hence forth, 11 shall be known as onety-one. Anyone on this forum found to mispronounce said word will be punished.

More like '11-teen', '12-teen' to follow with thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen...but there again...

    Shouldn't 'thirteen' be 'three-teen', 'fifteen' be 'five-teen'.

On the other hand, most people deal with it.

The English language has lots of irregularities. As to why it does, I'm not sure.

If it were to change, should it not be like, one-teen?

It should be tenty-one which sounds too much like twenty-one so they couldn't do it.

I was about to comment to say you'd missed out four-ty one. Then I realised it actually fits the "rule" :o: Tbf, sixty, seventy, eighty and ninety all fit..... :getmecoat:
