Just as the title really. I'm using a fairly average laptop so I'm not hoping to run modern games, but there has to be some slightly older games that are good :P

Atm, I'm on rome total war - but I'd like suggestions from any genre if you would (particularly a decent FPS)

    Thanks
Rome Total War = one of my all time faves.
    Good taste!

The C and C's are pretty good. Especially the first decade.

CS maybe? HL2? Day of Defeat?

Failing that, try the need for speed undergrounds, 1 and 2 are pretty good and not that intense graphically.

Yep, it's worryingly addictive, I've only just started as well.

Well, in terms of RTS, you've got loads. Here are some:

AoE (most, if not all of them, if I'm correct in thinking)
    Black and White
    Starcraft
    The Settlers IV (I think)

    FPSs:

Fallout 1,2 (possibly 3 although it was published in 2008)
    Medal of Honor
    Doom
    Quake
    BioShock (although this was 2007)

    Hope that helps.
    Any one in particular?

I got a bit enthusiastic first time I played it... took most of Southern Europe and Egypt, then went back and conquered Rome, taking out about 70% of my forces in the process... Got pwned by Asian forces and tribesmen for the rest of that session lol

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. There are some expansion packs that go with it too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medal_o...Allied_Assault

If you don't mind micromanaging too much, then SimCity 4 is an intricate game and can be very addictive.

Freelancer - Epic RPG/Space Sim. I've logged 900 hours on it.
Age of Empires 2 - RTS
    Empire Earth - RTS
The Sims 3 - You could probably run it.Jedi Outcast 2 - FPS, based on Star Wars
Not a chance, my computer won't run it properly.

    I'd recommend Civ IV

The original Age Of The Empires game before it all got too complicated. And Championship Manager 2001/2002, absolutely brilliant game even today, still better than the current editions for me.

Ah, well I'm playing as the julii and currently trying to get rid of Gaul/Brittania. However it's a bit annoying, my most military heavy city is actually the furthest it could be from my battle lines >.< Ah well.

Thanks for the suggestions, got loads of RTS down - anything from other genres also?

Then again there's enough games mentioned to keep my happy for about 5 years anyway
