Drugs advice body needs scientists, say campaigners Watch

    Is it really necessary to need all of the following? 'Medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, the pharmaceutical industry and chemistry.'

    The bill only mentions this briefly from what I can see, but they claim it would allow for a better range of views to remove the requirement to have at least one of each of the above professions.

    I don't see how removing them will help have a better range of views. Maybe a better range of views they like. Along with those 6 required members they can have whoever they like on the ACMD.

    At best this is being bought about because they can't find any self respecting profesionals willing to fill the posistions in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, the pharmaceutical industry and chemistry. Which is probably the case and of course there is the added bonus of being able to pander to the next hysterical moral outrage.

    Not suprising after what happened to David Nutt really. Why bother going for a position where you are routine ignored and are not allowed to talk about your expert opinion in public without being ignominiously sacked.
