New Zealand feels that it's a shame to break up the country and that the UN should do more to help the two sides in coming to a peaceful middle-ground. Plus, we believe that this will just cause more tension if the two were to be separated and we could have an even bigger dispute on our hands.

Greece supports this and hopes that it brings southern Sudan what they want.
Brazil would contend that the degree of unrest currently prevalent in the region is such that this possibility is rendered unlikely.

Red Cross believes the people of Sudan are the best people to decide on the referendum as both sides of the argument seem logical. Whilst the creation of 2 countries may lead to more stability in the region, it doesn't mean there will be an end to wars. Through the many examples of countries dividing which has led to many wars, Red Cross urges the Sudanese people to make an informed decision. It urges the global community to help support the people of Sudan amidst tensions arising in the country.

Brazil is pleased to see that voting has begun peacefully, and appears to be taking place in a free and fair manner.

When its people favour secession, the UK supports secession. This is very relevant to the UK as it holds the same stance on the disputed constitutional status of Northern Ireland.

Azerbaijan supports whatever outcome occurs. We can hardly ask the people to remain part of Sudan when we became independant from the Soviet Union.

Indonesia supports the will of the people of Sudan and say that only thing that UN and international community can do is to let people decide and then make sure their will is put trough.
