It was a coalition policy. The Liberal Democrats agreed to it.They even made the Browne's proposals fairer.

    What more do people want?

    Why are people rioting?

Turning blue- better than being red.
Red is always better than blue.

    Manchester United > Manchester City
    Liverpool > Everton
    Bloods > Crips
    Coca Cola > Pepsi
    Mario > Sonic
    Charizard > Blastoise
    Raw > Smackdown
    Hot > Cold

The only time blue wins is in Water > Fire - as water puts fire out but even that has a flaw as if a Fire gets to certain temperature it will make Water evaporate so then the fire has won.

    Red is the way forward.

Clegg is going backwards by becoming a Blue.

Also means I'll be priced out of studying medicine if I don't get in this cycle.

    Yay.
Grad medicine is really different though - yes I know it's a big issue but in the wider context (number of undergraduate students to grad medicine studnets) it's a very small issue which the last government didn't work out either.

I know it's obviously a huge issue for you but I think posting that without explaining that you want to do graduate medicine is just going to make people reading this thread that they have to pay £9k upfront for 1st undergraduate degrees or something.

    Disgusting.

Every Lib Dem MP who abstained or voted in favour should be impeached. They're nothing but rats, and that goes for ALL Lib Dem supporters who have chosen not to desert the party.

    It is though.
We now officially have the most expensive public universities in the entire world.

But someone else would take that place since it's highly competitive anyways, so it's not like that is a real problem.

OP: the result was expected tbh.

oh my... I have no idea whether I will be able to come to the UK next year as a visiting student and do my Master at the University of York....

      21 votes... srsly....
Change to a Welsh university on your application as EU students pay the same fees as Welsh domiciles.

Also, if you are going in 2011 then you will be fine even in England. If you are applying to start in 2012 onwards then apply for a Welsh university.

Come to Wales - nothing better than cheap tuition whilst spending the rest on hiring the services of escorting sheep.

      Its BAAAAA rilliant !

      WHAT THE ****,

HOW ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT GET ALL THESE ****ING **** **** SCROUNGERS WHO ARE BREEDING FOR FUN, WITH 10 KIDS, WHO HAVE NO INTENTION TO CONTRIBUTE TO SOCIETY AND CUT THEM OFF.

My parents have been paying taxes their WHOLE lives, to pay for that ****, pay for other people's livelyhoods. It's come to a point where I see a mother with about 6 kids on a bus, who is probably 'earning' more than my mum. WHERE'S IS THE FAIRNESS? **** SAKE.

What would the taxpayer rather subsidise? Benefits or graduate level studies? I bloody well know what my parents would choose.

The whole system is ****ed. ****ED ****ED ****ED.

      ****.

Why should someone who wants to better themselves, personally, academically and for the common good get penalised with HUGE debts? Where someone who has done **** ALL with his or her life gets 'free' money, for doing abosolute that, **** all.

**** YOU CLEGG, **** YOU CAMERON. **** ALL THESE POLITICIANS.

Very affordable. That is definitely worth my 4 lectures a week  Oh and can someone please tell me how this could possibly increase/keep demand at the same level for university places
There already is a high demand for university places. If anything, it needs to be cut down.

And to be honest... it's a conservative government... and I don't think the conservatives have ever been for the lower and lower middle classes right?
:facepalm2: Under the new system, poorer people are actually better off.

Quick question to anyone who knows - for those starting a 3 year degree in 2011, will they have to pay the uncapped fees from 2012 onwards or will their tuition costs be set?

        No changes to postgraduate degrees.

        Where you getting minimum from?
Really?! I'm sure postgrad fees WILL rise because of the overall cut in funding, and university departments having to compensate. Otherwise the average post grad degree will cost less per year than an undergrad, which seems a little silly..

Does anybody know the extend to which medicine is affected by this? In that, is it just the same for others with a max £45k total tuition fee due to being 5 years?
