So, he wants to be a model and spends hours looking at modelling websites and such,
Sends me links to people who've had photo shoots and say's the jealous of their bodies and the opportunities they've had.

He has developed an "eating disorder", although he's not fat at all, he thinks that he is and therefore hardly eats properly.

Do you think it's a realistic aspiration to have? I'd say it's akin to wanting to be a footballer whilst only being a mediocre recreational player or to be a actor when your only experience of acting is GCSE Drama.

    What shall I do?
Support him? Or continue to attempt to highlight both how it's not a glamorous but image obsessed, *****y, stressful and very hard industry, on top of all the issues his new eating habits may cause him in the long term?

    Sounds like a dumb ass

Where did I say he is not handsome?!

right there, you basically said he's ugly and not good enough to be a model. And frankly it sounded horrid my first thought when i read that was "*****"

However i shall reserve judgement for now

Anyway first things first get him eating healthy, thats the most important thing, after that give him to an agency they will tell him straight away if he can be a model. Then once he knows for sure whether he can do it or not go from there

The comparisons were just my thoughts on how unrealistic it is as an aspiration for anyone,- how there are so many other options which people don't consider when they're fixated on something which not everyone can do.
He is really good looking, I was just saying how hard it is to do, and perhaps he should best focus on his A levels rather than studying photos of models every night.
You just interpreted my post wrong.

I've only started this topic to help him, if that means encouraging him then so be it.

Its not like that, it depends what type of modeling you go in to. I wasnt a body model, but had modelled for hairdresser ads, hair modelling - its not bithcy but he could break the more commercial industrys first - although it depend what type of model he wants to be...

who says its unrealistic? Its hard to get into medicine, people still do it. Granted its not easy but if he gets into an agency they will do the work for him. And you are right in saying that its not an easy life but nothing worth doing is ever easy. but if he has his heart set on it then you should be encouraging him.

Theres a lot more to life than getting good grades
