The Harry Potter series (JK Rowling) - pure amazingness, my childhood and entire life so far in fact in book form.
1984 (George Orwell) - incredible, gave my nightmares
Q&A (Vikus Swarup) - such an amazing narrative

    I don't really have a favourite one.

Really good one I read was the Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Classic.

A recent one I read is Singled Out by Simon Brett. That was a rather strange book, it really got to me. But I loved it.

    titus groan by mervyn peake.

there are a few great characters in the gormenghast triology but steerpike is the most awesomest fictional character ever created. i cried for about a week when i finished gormenghast (the second book).

never bothered to read the third part of the trilogy (titus alone) because it wouldn't have steerpike in it.

also 'through the looking glass' by lewis carroll. 'alice in wonderland' is obviously awesome but i actually prefer 'through the looking glass'. awesomeness.
