Because of the Blackberry Messenger (BBM)
You can chat 24/7 for free (if you have internet).
I live in Dubai and EVERYONE has it!!
Some people even have blackberry + iphone :O
    Dayum

Its so annoying, virtually everyone in my school has a blackberry, whats the point? Wheres the diversity if everyone has the same bloody brand of phone and Its not even that good.

Why are so many people starting to get Blackberrys?, Is it because its good? or Is it just a social trend thing?

I would like to hear people's opinions on this.
I never buy something because it's a trend-I just think Blackberrys are very good phones. And BBM is so ultra convenient when you've got friends who live miles away and don't always have the time to sit down at the laptop and sign into FB or Gmail.

I suppose they are getting cheap now??

I have a blackberry not because it's a social trend, but because I could get one for a £10 a month contract - cheaper than my previous phone

    Cause blackberries have better keypads.
I have a Nokia E63 which as a similar keypad design to blackberries so the keypad can't be the sole reason because a lot of people would be getting Nokia E63s for the keypads.

Because folks that cannot walk up to a girl/boy and ask for their number, find it lot easier and less ackward to ask for the bbm number instead. Saying that it works for some people. I know a few folks that this has worked for them. I was actually thinking of getting the torch, because i know alot of people who have a bb, but i hate the designs of all the bb.

I might get the Ipone4 in the end, though.
    Who knows?

I know! It pisses me off! Blackberries have been around for ages but they have mostly been used by business people in order to sent emails etc. Now all of a sudden, 16-19 year olds are getting blackberries like their the latest thing! They've been around for years people!

I wouldn't have gotten a blackberry but my bro bought it and he couldn't use it, so he just gave it to me.

I guess it is the latest trend these days but I would've gotten an android if I didn't have a blackberry.

I love it when people talk about "free" phones

Yes, because paying £30+/mo for 24 months is totally free. I have the mind of a child and get an insatiable bout of consumerism whenever I see something which has low short-term costs durr durr durr

what do you mean UK debt is 70% of our gdp???? i am so shock at this happen!!

Its stupid if i am honest with you, they get one on contract for BBM, yet they will have unlimited text and internet bundle what grants them access to skype, facebook, msn etc. what makes BBM kind of irrelivent.

Its more of a trend thing now, its a business phone and when i see someone with one i just have to laugh at the stupidity. Ill stick with my X10 what trumps BB in every way.
