Are we on UK or world?

UK the first 5 I thought of were Oxbridge, Warwick, Imperial and Lancaster. I suspect Lancaster would drop out of that list if I thought about it for longer. I am not even certain that Lancaster has a university.

World would be Oxbridge, Harvard, Yale and Warwick, because Warwick is much more excellent than people give it credit for.

      Harvard - Prestige
      Penn - Banker heaven
      Stanford - Techy heaven
Princeton - For the truly elite
MIT - gotta love those card counting nerds

I would beg to differ (if by here you mean UK/EU) - it is considered more prestigious than any other university in the world, including because where talking about the UK here, Oxbridge.

I have seen personal experience of this within the Investment Banking and Consultancy circles, so can't speak for other industries (though given the two aforementioned industries are the most competitive and sought-after, it is a fair proxy for other fields of industry to in my opinion).

Harvard - very good on all fronts, lagging behind in technology/engineering
Yale - like Harvard (they are competitors)
      Princeton - general all roundness
Stanford - good on all fronts, excellent in sciences/engineering
MIT - speciality college in engineering/sciences, but generally the best for that field

You'll see terms alike to Oxbridge such as:
      HYP
      HYPS
      HYPSM
      (representing the above universities)

There's also HYPSMC, which is also with CalTech (competitor to MIT).

Those are the leading universities, HYP compete against another in the hummanities/politics/sciences field, whilst Stanford, MIT and Caltech compete on the sciences/engineering front, with SM having focus on MBA as well (versus Harvard)
