Well I think if you are socially aware you can always read whether there's a possibility or not. I can think of other female friends where, for instance, there has been a level of chemistry there from the start, in one case the girl had a long term boyfriend at the time, and it went through my mind that if she was ever single, something might happen because the chemistry was always there, and sure enough it did. But this girl I'm talking about, I've never sensed chemistry with her, I've always been attracted to her but it's one way, I've never picked up the 'vibe' of anything other than friendship with her. We've known each other about 5 years and we've both been single for long enough periods of that that if something was going to happen, it would have happened by now, I don't believe that she's secretly fancied me and been hiding it because she's a bit too confident a girl for that. So I realised quite early on that chemistry is either there or its not, it's been there with other girls but its not there with her, so I've never seen her as an 'option' in that way.(Original post by DanielleT192)
Yuss! Girls have got a lot to bring to friendships with males . It's the same for girls really. I love the fact I don't get a gossip/*****ing conversation...it's more indepth like films, music taste, politics, life etc, where I feel it's lacking in my friendships with many of my girls friends.
Also, why are you holding yourself back from this girl? You shouldn't deny your feelings because you could potentially end up in a brilliant relationship with her.
It's not like its tearing me up inside or anything, this is part of life, you find people who you like but the feeling is unrequited, you just have to move on and look at other people. To relate this back to the thread, the problem with a lot of guys who have 'close female friends' is they are in this situation but try to manufacture a relationship by becoming the girl's close bosom buddy, and in the end all it does is sets the guy up for a big fall.
I also don't believe in the standard Hollywood advice "just tell her how you feel", I think if any guy fancies his female friend he needs to just get clued into the vibes, you can sense when a girl is interested and when she isn't....when she isn't, it doesn't do either party any good to force a rejection out of her.

yes, in fact I have no close male friends, all my friends are female pretty much. I suppose I feel the opposite and that friendships can be deeper then with males and there is less fake masculinity (obviously).
If you're wondering if such friendships can occur without anything more then yes completely in my view. Although my partner was a friend at first (well..she admitted to having feelings from the start pretty much, not so much the case with me.) I feel no attraction to the rest of my friendship group beyond platonic affection.

Yes but I advice to try and pick carefully who you want to get close to. I fell for one and it did a lot of damage lol

Yeah. Dunno what I'd do without my close 'girl' friends.

most of my friends are girls... actually in one of my friend groups i'm the only main boy and there's like 10-14 girls and they're great friends, as good as guys, if not better
i s'pose maybe accidently falling in love with them may happen here or there... and yes i also s'pose things may happen when drunk, but usually if they're really good friends then you can overcome that, or stop silly things like that happening all together
however girls can sometimes be extremely *****y, but i'm partial to a good gossip myself so it kinda doesn't affect me
and yes it would help with being introduced to new girls... but if you say went out with one and then there was a huge break-up... prepare for world war 3

Jus make sure that you can be your complete self around them. For me, if they don't like my sense of humour, it's not gonna work out regardless of whether you're a guy or girl.
