Engineers apply some physics and mathematics to real world problems, yes. Do a physics degree and try to find a job with it afterwards (except teaching).

I'm not quite sure you're being serious.

You're suggesting physics is a bad degree to gain a job?
so low unemployment, high starting salaries, going into finance/research/industry, these are all bad attributes for a degree? And that a chemistry degree is notably better?

Finanace = Any degree that contains mathematics
Research = Obviously, if you can cope
Industry = Yes, but not much... I can assure you there is a lot more industry demand for chemistry or biology than physics.

I guess you are a physicist which would explain why you find it hard to put your thoughts into words. Try using some mathematical equations instead...

In all seriousness, give me a sentence that is correct as a replacement?
What counts as abstract mathematics? I'm curious. But okay then, a much more correct sentence would've been " Physics is a subject that consists of maths and theories that have had an invaluable effect on the world today."

Though I don't think it's really worth adding much more to that, I get the horrible feeling you won't listen...
