That reminds me of the crap derren brown show where the guy had to untie himself from the track, if you don't know what I'm talking about don't worry lol

That would be cool actually, your punishment is you are tied down on a rail road track and if you escape you get to live and walk free but other wise you die. Would promote survival of the fittest

whoops there was a person who sounds sophisticated in her communication and she said that
- if they were to fine me they would have done that on the spot
- 9/10 times they would prosecute people like me

yep, sounds like you got away with it, i got caught once and got fined 25£ on the spot, same happened to another friend of mine (who actually failed to pay his fine and then had to pay £50)
by "prosecute" i doubt they mean anything more than the standard fine

Actually, by "prosecute" she meant I would be summoned to COURT! ANd could have a criminal record in the future!!! :frown:((((((((((((((((((

Could be just a warning, your lucky to get away without a fine, next time, just pay up and get the proper ticket or get an oyster card, you can buy them for like £3 in a cornershop normally and top up what you need.

that sees a bit extreme maybe unless you were a repeat offender
and the overwhelming evidence in this thread says that that's not true  (could be that we're just a freak sample but much doubt)

Why? Solid advice, anyway, it's not like I pay for it either, free oyster travel for under 18's
u have probably got away with it, if not it will just be a fine. I got caught for the same thing at liverpool street by undercovers and the guy made me pay fine on spot and stood over my shoulder at the ATM! I also got caught with no ticket on national rail and just got a fine to my house or the option to argue in court if i didnt agree with the fine.

I have however saved more by using child tickets, and back in the day used a 7 day paper bus pass and my friend rubbed out the date and kept changing it. Oyster card is making this impossible these days though :frown:

Hi, I got caught using a child ticket on london underground!?
It was such a stupid act!!! I will regret this forever. I decided to do it because I forgot my railcard today (which usually gives me discount) and the normal day travelcard is expensive . So there I got caught by the inspector and I had to give my name and address and real date of birth (as I tried to lie initially ). The thing is, he said that all I would get would be a letter telling me not to do this again. Is this the truth? or anything more serious could happen to me?
Btw I am 18 years of age and in international student.
Please help if possible ((((((((

I did this and got a £30 fine + the price of the ticket, its not a massive deal just dont do it again

I accidentally ended up on a train to brighton with a ticket to Wimbledon from London victoria. They did say that you don't usually get fined unless you board with no ticket at all.

This girl I know got fined £1000 no joke but I think that's because she'd done it a few times; being an international student and being your first offence it could just be a warning.
Don't expect sympathy.
