My brother and his mates smoked some of my mum's shisha quite a few years back whilst she was out for the evening - I went downstairs and the whole room was thick with smoke and it's distinctive smell...I remember just feeling slightly disappointed in him for doing drugs, then going up to my bedroom and feeling gradually really much more relaxed and a little giggly. I've also asked a mate of mine about this who used to do it and he said it's perfectly possible - you just won't get anywhere near as high as if you smoked it yourself, though.
    Shisha isn't drugs!!

Anyways, you can be affected by second hand smoke although am not sure about coming from another room.

One of my friends smokes a lot, whenever I go to his room I always get a headache and feel really sleepy. He tells me I look stoned and I wonder why! :P, definately does affect me but that's in the same room while he's smoking...
