# Edexcel M1 16 May 2012 Post Exam thread - Paper and Solutions in the FIRST POST Watch

1. I thought it was OK. I lost either 2 or 3 marks (out of 4) on the sinking into the ground question, because I took the force going down as mv instead of mg for some strange reason. I also think I lost 0-3 marks on the 3 marker at the end of the paper because I drew thrust in the wrong direction (but got the correct answer, as a negative, where I simply changed the values on the left of my equations to be negative also so that it fitted).

I'm thinking 69/75 assuming I've made no other stupid mistakes I haven't foreseen yet.

The exam solutions would be just swell right now to put my mind at ease.
2. Does anyone remember what they got for 2c? The distance on the plank?

1.33m

I meant he had nailed what the last question would be on, but, yeah I got 0.125N

Hmm, I was so happy that I checked out the examsolutions bit on trust before the exam.
5. 1) V = 1.5MS^-1, M = 0.3KG

T = 115 for that A to B thing

0.316m for that ball sinking into the ground question.

5km for the vectors question, then something like 12.625 for the due north bit.

Thrust = a = 1.25, then tension in string = 1.375, then speed at t = 6 = 7.5, distance travalled = 7.5, thrust = 1/8

Can't remember any more!

300 degrees for the bearing?
302 degrees

I think I got 1.3 something not too sure
8. solutions are now up
9. Distance on was 4/3 m
10. i think this paper is a bit difference from the old ones

btw anyone know what is the distance falls through with the ''soft'' ground question LOL
11. Anybody got 155s for total time in the speed-time graph question?

Paha, 1/8 N?
YES That was the one I thought I'd screwed up...

Also, does anyone know if you're penalised for giving vectors as columns, as opposed to i and j?
16. Does anyone know that if you show 2 methods or more, the best one counts apparently? Right?

300 degrees for the bearing?
uh uh. 302 I seem to remember getting. There was a strange sense of deja vu doing that one I think there was an incredibly similar question in a past paper I did...
18. 75/75

So long as I get the mark for putting 3 s not 2.99s ?

YES
20. Holy crap, I may have got 100!
Thanks so much Arsey! You're a bearer of great news today.
