I was on Loestrin 20, of which the only side affect I noticed was it killed my sex drive. (not surprising considering it was designed for 40 year old women.. why did my doc give it to me?) I didn't put on weight because I realised my appetite had increased but kept intake the same. Annoying being more hungry though

    Conclusion: Loestrin is stupid.

    Anyway, implant:bang:

I've been on Microgynon 30 for a year now, and havn't had any bad effects at all. The only difference is that my periods are now a lot lighter (they were really heavy before i went on it) and also shorter.

Apart from that, nothing has changed! Same weight, same breast size etc.

I'm now on Yasmin and I've not put any weight on and periods are so regular, light and painfree, it's great.
I've heard good things about Yasmin, however it's one of the most expensive pills so Doctors rarely prescribe it first time around unless there's a particular reason to :/

Never going back on the pill ever unless I desperately have to

I've been on Microgynon 30 for 18 months. At the start, it caused me to put on a stone, but then I had just gone to uni so it might have been all the beer I was drinking that was to blame. All in all, it's good. I still get some very mild period pain, but very limited bleeding, no mood swings or any PMT. Plus there is the contraceptive benefit, and also the being able to postpone a period thing, which is helpful. Oh, and my breasts went from a 32A to a 32C! Bonus!

i was microgynon 30 for 2 years and i didn't like it (i don't want to put anyone off, i'm the only person i know that's had bad side effects), i put on about a stone, got moody and didn't feel like myself and completely went off sex all together i wanted the implant but the doctors said they wouldn't give it me because i'm too young (im 18 in 3 weeks for christ sake..)

BUT on the other side my best mate has been on it for a year and she loves it, it's regulated her periods, made them lighter, she hasn't put on anymore weight and she's generally happier in herself, i guess it just depends o each individual. i think the main think to remember is the most suitable pill for you isn't neccesarily the first one you are put on

I took Dianette for 10 months and found it helped my acne but gave me really bad 24 hour debalitating migraines!

I have Dianette and has given me lighter/less painful periods which I predict (whereas before I was still slightly irregular). Best of all though, it's clearing up my skin! Side effects: I've put on a bit of weight but that just means an extra gym session or two. I also think it's possibly made me a bit more lethargic with work and socialising but not enough to majorly effect my life

I was very irregular beforehand and had bad acne which is why I was prescribed it... but I've been off it now for 2 months and I've lost 1/2 stone!

No way, go back to your doc and demand it! Or go to a different clinic. I was 18 and 2 months when I got mine. Don't take no for an answer if it's what you want

Gah I know the feeling well. I've started taking it every evening now instead of in the morning because I was usually too drowsy to remember. I used to set reminders on my phone...until I forgot to do that too!

How long do the implants last?

I'm also 18 so why would being so young be a problem?

Ive been on quite a few pills and not had much sucess until now!

Was firstly put on microgynon, which made me spotty, longer periods, moody and put on about a stone in weight.
Then went on dianette because of all the spots id got from microgynon. But that still made me really moody.
Went on yasmin - Made me aggressively moody, was probably the worse one id been on for moods and raging PMT!
Then went on cilest - but that made me throw up constantly - felt really sick about 4 or 5 hours every day after taking my pill - so bad my mum thought i was pregnant coz i kept throwing up in the morning.
Now im on ovysmen - the periods are longer and painful, but my moods and PMS have completely disappeared and my skins cleared up.

And quite frankly, ive tried so many pills now, that im gonna have to sacrafice something, and id rather have painful periods and be happy and not suffer from mood swings, than have light periods and be a hormonal moody blob!

All of my friends have never had any of the problems ive had - im just the expection and quite sensetive to the hormones. But i need to be on some form of contraceptive so somethings gotta give..
