durdham is nice and all.... but it is well known for being dull.

Personally if i had the choice of durdham or goldney i might try my luck with goldney.

I think your underestimating the catered halls, catered rocks

When I was over at Bristol my friend showed me round her place at Goldney and I was amazed, literally walking round with my jaw on the floor and I'm definitely going to apply there. Though all the Accommodation seems top notch and there's very little in between it in terms of impressiveness.

the bmx thingy....dont if it hasnt got breaks, you will die! the traffic is heavy and hills very steep. also take the crappest bike you own...it will get stolen if it is nice, or perhaps if not...theres a hell of a lot of bike crime around, most ppl i know have had them stolen DONT bring a nice bike.

If you apply to Goldney you probably won't get ensuite, because I think the ensuite rooms mainly go to returners.
This isn't true, it's mostly pot luck if you apply for en-suite. But there is only one returner per flat, which means there are 4 returners in en-suite rooms and 20 freshers.

Sharing a bathroom in Goldney is not a problem- I've been doing it for two years and will be doing it again next year, so it can't be that bad!

But if its the case of pot luck, can you *sway* the decision of the warden. Obviously disabled freshers get first choice but i guess i would rather have ensuite so its winkworth for me....

Whats wrong with winkworth...? Are you going to stay in halls or move to student houses in your 2nd year?
I cant be bothered with the SB trek ok! I prefer to wake 15 mins before a lecter and a brisk walk/job to the lecter theatre! i enjoy my sleep and online gaming till the early hours!

Well i would prefer clifton anyway but out of all the halls, winkworth suits my requirements of ensuite. If i lose out on the social side, so be it but dont the medics have there own society, galenicals.

IM trying to judge, will i miss alot with regards to the social calender. I do espect to because of the house i have picked but then again there maybe similar minded people in my house anyway as i think it holds 120.

I dont think u will miss too much, there arent that many events in halls really. Its just the socialbility of everyone living there, but then u have 120 people in winkworth so there shudnt be a problem. Yes the medics have galenicals, they r better than halls really at organising events, had quite a few, a ball, numerous pub crawls vs lawyers n vets, erm foam parties, fancy dress, meals in chinese buffets...mmm yes galenicals are very good, you will be happy wherever i reakon.
