Maybe because Cradle Of Filth were suddenly all over Kerrang! TV and the younger kids loved the image and Dani played up to it all.
That's the ticket, man. They had much more credibility before Dani turned into a teen sex icon. The ego has got to Mr. Filth, causing him to create weaker music.

I'd love their music so much more if they took him away, actually. It'd be nice as instrumental stuff.
Cradle of Filth wouldn't be Cradle of Filth without Dani. Instead of taking him out of the band, I would re-wind to the days before/when Midian was released, and would somehow stop them from becoming huge and iconic. I just love their older stuff; it's far superior to the music they are churning today.

They wouldn't be the same, no, but it's his screaming that's putting me off. The music itself... it's delicious. :p: And I know he's a lot clearer now but I'd still prefer the music minus the vocals. The music's good enough to paint a picture without his words over the top.

I have been told that they've done plenty of instrumentals and I don't remember hearing any so I'm going to look into that.

    Heheh, fair enough.

Yes, they have. However, the instrumentals are pretty much keyboard affairs. That being said, they are excellent. Check out the following instrumentals: "At the Gates of Midian", "Portrait of the Dead Countess", "Carmilla's Masque"...

Also, if you're feeling up to it, you should try to hear their cover of Iron Maiden's "Hallowed be thy Name". Listening to a few of their originals, such as "Amor E Morte" (the solo in this song is killer), wouldn't go amiss, either.

Agree with Amor e Morte. Also, try From Cradle to the Enslave. That's the song that got me into them. Another fave is Hurt and Virtue albeit it's from the Damnation and a Day album which is pretty slated...

    HIM rock!
Well, I guess we couldn't ask for anything more intellectually challenging (or tasteful) from a person sporting that avatar.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions, both of you.
