I wish people at school thought that! They all think i listen to ''pretentious hipster ****". Lonerism is great, but I love their first LP the most, half full glass of wine is there best song by far!

Awesome list, the only ones I'd add are bands like Arcade Fire, Animal Collective, Deerhunter and Olivia Tremor Control.

I'm not a massive fan, but there is one song I like. I think it's called Northern Downpour.

I love all sorts of music, but I really do like folk music and pop/rock. I love music by Jake Bugg, Bon Iver, Ben Howard, Mumford and Sons, Sigur Rós, First Aid Kit, Dry The River etc. I bet there's loads of amazing artists/bands out there that I haven't heard of, anyone fancy recommending some to me? It would be greatly appreciated!
Hey, great music taste. Here are some bands: Folly and the Hunter, The Oh Hellos, Stornoway, The Shins, The Head and the Heart, Frightened Rabbit, The Paper Kites, Beth Jeans Houghton, Karine Polwart, Admiral Fallow, Avi Buffalo, Keaton Henson and Rachel Sermanni.

Some great bands have been mentioned! For a laugh I'd add 'Folk On'... They're a comedy folk band, and actually pretty good!

Laura Marling, Dog is Dead, Lucy Rose and Wolf Alice I think you might like. And seconding what an earlier poster said about Tame Impala as well, they're brilliant and one of my favourites.

There's some local artists near me, Natasha Haws and Ajimal, who might be your thing too, but they don't have that many songs at the moment.

Definitely try Passenger, possibly Noah and the Whale. It may be worth giving Two Door Cinema Club a listen too, even though it isn't that genre, because I simply don't know anybody who doesn't like them. Hudson Taylor are pretty good, vaguely similar to some of the people you mentioned.

Liam Frost, both his solo stuff and the stuff he's done with his old band, the slowdown family.
He's still relatively unknown unfortunately but I love his sound, he's fab!

If you are willing to try an Irish folk/rock sort of thing then I really recommend Flogging Molly. My favourite band with a really good mix of traditional irish folk music + folk instruments but with a heavier rockier sound. Check out their older albums especially!

+ try Johnny Flynn too (:
