Guys join no fap 2013 to reiterate what i posted earlier

imo the benefits out weigh the negatives honestly pleasuring yourself in a dark room hoping no one catches you is extremely weird i'd rather channel that energy into actually getting with a girl

Well put . I think your last sentence says it all. Masturbation is a poor substitute for a loving relationship. It can also be an obstacle to be, because it takes away energy that should be devoted to someone else.

On the contrary, evolution would not have developed a mechanism for guys to get rid of surplus sperm in their sleep if it intended them to do it by fapping. Sometimes guys use the 'blue balls' (ie full of sperm, uncomfortable) excuse to pressure girls for sex or excuse masturbation. But it's boll***s: if they need to get rid of sperm they'll do it unconsciously when they're asleep.

FWIW I think there's no shame in a guy on the no fap challenge having a wet dream. On the contrary, it's a sign of success, that they've held things in long enough for the natural reflex to take over.
I hate to bring this dead thread back to life (I was on holiday) but I want to say something:

Looking at it from your perspective, this mechanism evolved during a time where the prime babymaking age was probably around 17-19yrs of age considering lifespan during evolution. Society evidently changed since then and now we fap more as a substitute for how things used to be when we first evolved. We have more spare time, porn sites, do less manual labor, and society perceives sex differently.

I don't think people should rely on mechanisms such as wet dreams to do the same thing they did at the time it was evolved. It could be argued that fapping is another mechanism we have developed (though not through genetic evolution) to keep our bodies nearer to the same balance the human body was in the society we genetically evolved in. It's making up for these changes in our lifestyle since the early humans.

That doesn't mean it's right to fap 4 times each day, maybe some people fap 'too much' because it's not a true substitute for the way things were in the society of our genetic evolution.

What do you think?
