I'll be honest, if he accepts his girlfriend's money, fine but he shouldn't make out that he's treating her to a night out on Facebook. He sounds like a bit of a weasel! Your friend should be careful!

I don't know. Personally I've never really made much of a connection between the phrases 'take you out' and 'will pay.' For me 'treating' means you'll pay and 'take you out' is just...we'll go out. Maybe its a cultural/background thing.

If he otherwise seems to be quite selfish/arrogant then there might be cause for concern, but if it's literally the only thing he does then I don't really see any reason to be annoyed.

I don't mind paying my half as long as he suggests or tries to pay. It's the gesture that matters really not who actually pays

This doesn't affect me because I am lucky enough to have a well payed job along side my college, I am able to take my boyfriend out and pay for it because he is in college and doesn't really get any money.

However, this would annoy me very much if I was in the situation, as it is effectively lying and I can't stand lying. Something needs to be said to this guy b'cause quite frankly, I would of left him by now.

He didn't take her out, but it's not a big deal. Easily fixed by bringing it up. I hope "your friend" feels better about this soon.
