Hey I'm starting running too - I don't really need to lose weight but I want to improve my lung capacity (I have asthma so it's been suggested I do more exercise to help with that) and to get fitter in general. So the other week I signed myself up to do the Race for Life in July running for charity is a good motivator...

Have you considered swimming at all? It really burns energy and is less stressful on your joints.

Start slow! if you go slower, you will definitely be able to last longer!
Try interval runs too! eg 1 min jog, 1 min run, and start over a couple of times
Dont over work it! You can get shin splint and other injuries!
Warming up, cooling down and stretches after a run are very important too!
