    That's ok. It is possible to find an area between a line and a curve without them intersecting.

    No it is not clear, because AB and the curve do not necessarily have to intersect at A and B. You gave us a question where we did not know the equation of AB.

    => S = (2x^-1)/-1 + (x^2)/2
    when X=2 S=1
    and when X=0.5 S= -31/8
    1-(-)31/8= 39/8
    Area of trapezium= 8.25
    8.25-39/8= 27/8
    Ill take a fiver for that
