    Just curious...

What is the point of getting to keep the stuff?

Alcohol - Don't drink personally - some drink, fine.
    Knives - pointless keeping?
Cigarettes - pointless keeping? (Seeing most people don't smoke.)
    Tanning - pointless..

    etc...
I bet you're the life of the party...

So simply not drinking automatically makes me a total bore? How old are you? 12?

I was referring to your attitude rather than your lifestyle choices. It's pretty obvious. Shops sell these goods because people are willing to use their hard earned money to pay for them. Therefore, an opportunity to receive them free of charge is clearly something many people would be interested in. Calling a good that DOES make a lot of profit 'pointless' is utterly idiotic. People buy it. Simple.

Even if you don't smoke, drink etc you can buy the cheapest item and still have the remaining money for yourself and you will not be at a loss

they allow you to keep the restricted product if you're 17? thats extremely odd

I'm pretty sure 99% of supermarkets have a policy against their employees becoming mystery shoppers/test purchases
