Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!
Now if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth! But you gotta be willing to take the hits. And not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!

    GCSEs; 6A*s 6As.

I began college in 2010 and I didn't try as hard as I should have in January. My january results were UUUE and I ended up having to leave college because I had a few extenuatinf circumstances too.

Started a new college in September 2011 and achieved AAAA at AS last year. Now holding 2 medicine offers when everyone had lost their faith in me (including my parents).

Hard work definitely pays off and there simply is no alternative! Go out and do what you've gotta do. Let the story they tell of you be that you exceeded expectations !

I really, really need a boost and inspiration right now.

I am in year 13 and have AAD at AS and need A*AA at A2. Please, anyone who experienced something similar to me and did well in the end please say what you did and the results of it.

I have exactly 6 weeks until my first exam, tell me I can get my D to an A and achieve an A* alongside that!

I am considering packing it all in and giving up, I need you.
Like everyone else here is telling you, AAD is not a fail. My friend got the exact same grades and he received offers from Imperial, Warwick, UCL, etc. Admittedly he isn't taking his offer at Imperial because it asks for more than what he thinks he will get so he is firming Warwick at AAA.

I assume you're doing F.Maths? Otherwise how come you only have 3 ASes

I got ACD at AS (maths, physics, and economics respectively) I was so dissapointed in myself as I was 1 ums off the A* in maths and expected much better from physics, but hey, come january, retook C4, got myself and A* in maths, retook physics, now I'm just 5 ums off an A in AS physics (kinda flopped the A2 module but not for lack of revision, just a bad paper for me) and aced an A2 module in F.Maths, so I'm feeling very confident going into May/June.

My offer is AAB for Mechanical Engineering at Warwick, Can't wait to go there

LISTEN!! You are NOT failing!!!! it's just a matter of re-taking that subject you got a D in and you will be fine.

I did not get the best grades in GCSE and I was considered the "inferior" among my "cleaver friends". I got admission in the same sixth form as my "cleaver friends" and after so much criticism and I decided to work HARD and in the January AS exams I got 2 As whereas my "cleaver friends got Us".
"The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet."

Its just the matter of HARD work and it depends on how BAD YOU WANT IT!! remember these A-Levels will partially decide how your future pans out!

REMEMBER "The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet."

Im feeling you I got CCDE (bio, chem, maths and psych). Feel like a failure too. I got good GCSEs and didn't put much effort into AS, did no work all year and then crammed two weeks before exams. I wish Michael Gove would do us all a favour and quit his job, no January exams  The worst part is that Im an aspiring medic :/
