Hell, the internet should be free for as long as possible. It's nasty to see, but not necessarily a bad thing. We live in a pretty nasty world, after all.
The Internet isn't free, the police can track anything anyone writes and turn up at their door.. And I don't think stuff like that should be on Facebook it should be kept on all the weird obscure websites.

I have been surprised with what gets past their filters. A few years ago some of my "friends" found someone's password and decided to post a series of quite disturbing and/or pornographic images. The account was suspended within a day or so but the images still popped up on my newsfeed.

I still use the site but this has made me slightly more wary. The report features have got pretty robust now but of course that means you have to see the content first. Choosing who you make friends only takes you so far - in this instance the guy was an idiot for letting his friends access his account but he actually had nothing to do with the images being posted. I don't think I was even friends with the person who took control of his account.

Yeah, a page I liked shared a picture of a woman giving a BJ to a dog. I genuinely considered deactivating it there and then.
    Don't lie.

That's why I said should, not is.

Why not? Why should only the nicey-nicey bit of the world be shown? I'm sorry, but if something horrific is being shown about the war in Iraq, then people should see it.

I agree about the Iraq thing but to shove it in people's faces when they least expect it (eg scrolling through their newsfeed) is just a bit too much.

Also, the Internet is what creates a lot of cruelty and stuff as there is a market for it, for example animals such as monkeys, dogs, puppies being tortured and crushed to death which I had the misfortune of seeing a picture of on my newsfeed one day about three years ago and I am still physically sick if I think about it in detail..

I suppose I can see where you're coming from.
Crusher videos are just. Indescribably wrong. But they'd exist with or without the internet. The fetish for it did, after all.

I wouldn't say one of those sites as such, but the level of inappropriate content (not just in that aspect either) is getting alarming now.

Last night, I joined a group which I believed was an RIP/Best wishes page for those affected by the tragic events in Boston, only to find an hour or so later, the creator uploaded an extremely graphic image of a runner whose leg had been blown to pieces and you could see the bone and everything. It was nasty!

I hope somebody reported that page.

    Everytime I logg
in, I see porn liked and shared on my screen. It's
quite worrying given the fact almost every 12
year old and their dog has Facebook these days.
    Has anyone noticed this?
I'd be worried too, if my 12 year old dog had a facebook.

Anyway OP, I think you have horny friends. I'm pretty sure the majority of people's experience is very different to yours.
