The worst thing you can do is to pontificate and overthink about what is the most optimal kind of training you can do.
Just start off and do something and refine it as you go along. When you start off totally untrained, anything is going to help you.

As a warmup for when I start next week I did all those machines.
I started with a weight I could do easily. 10 reps each
Built my way up (usually 2 weights higher) until fail.
Now I know my limit, what do I do now?
Do I start at my limit next time? And try to improve?
And actually passed?
