I went today but completely forgot to ask any questions as I was rushing for another train haha. Did anyone else get any info? They seemed more like admin than people who would know such details about the course though but I could be wrong. I have emailed again and will post on here if I get a response.

I didn't ask either as I heard another girl asking questions and they didn't seem to know. What sort of stuff do you think they will tell us? Would be good do get a reading list and the dates of placements, especially as I think we have to find the first one our selfs. Have you found any good books/websites? I've just been brushing up on my basic English and maths skills, things I should probably already know!

I haven't made a facebook group as I wasn't sure if that was the thing you did when you were already on the course and had met people. Are you staying in on-campus accommodation?

    Hey,

Ive been offered a place on the PGCE (Foundation & KS1) and I'm just wondering about accommodation? I live in Manchester so I don't know if student accommodation is best? or flat sharing?

If anyone knows of anyone wanting to house share, let me know

    Thanks x

Hi Sasha, I went for on-campus accommodation as it'als just simpler, about £5500 for the duration of the course with all bills included and of course being right next door to lectures is ideal :-)

    Hello!

Finally found a thread where there are others going to Roehampton!

I applied for Halls back in April and haven't heard back, and I will be doing Foundation-key stage 1! Has anyone else received the email about moodle? I have signed up and everything...and trying to get some alternative work experience! Has anyone had any luck with that?

    See you all in September!

Yeah I got that email and the preparation booklet, seems like a lot to prepare for! For Alternative Placement I am just going to help my girlfriend run an arts and crafts workshop at a local charity

    Hey,

I am also hoping to start the primary pgce in september specialising in key stage 2.

Are you guys buying all the books? I am so confused, looks like we have a lot to do.

I am waiting on a result of a GCSE at the moment, so will not know until august if I have a guaranteed place. I am thinking about the science equivalency test - just for peace of mind. Anyone sat the exam?

I have emailed a few museums, starting to panic a little!
    That's a good idea!

Have you applied for school experience yet? I have no clue how to go about obtaining it. I'm guessing we have to get school experience from schools near roehampton.

    Hi!

I'm considering buying the books but some of they are like over £20 each and if all those books are that price not sure i could afford it.
Reading that preparation book has got me panicking. Lol

I haven't taken that test, so can't help you there sorry.

    Hey,

I think I will only buy one or two of the core books and see how I go. I've read messages in other forms from past students and nearly all of them have said not to bother buying books on the reading list as they are not needed.

I think I'm going to do my alternative placement at a Year 7 Transition Summer School. Maybe email high schools near you and see if they are running one. The school I'm hoping to do mine at runs two summer schools over 4 weeks in the holidays.

I'm pretty sure that the School Observation doesn't have to be near Roehampton as the tutors don't visit you on this one. I'm thinking I might try applying to schools near where my Mum leaves (outside of London) as it would be nice to get a mixture of experience and may be easier to obtain.

Is it August that we hear about hall? I'm worried that I won't get in as I only live 20 miles from London and there aren't that many rooms available.

    Hello everyone!
i tried to post before but it doesn't seem to have worked so sorry if it ends up on here twice!

I'm also starting the F/KS1 PGCE in September

I'll be living off-campus with my husband but we aren't sure where yet- maybe Putney or Hammersmith... I am completing my alternative placement in Cyprus (where we are based at the moment) at a summer school nursery next week - but so far have not managed to set up a Sept placement anywhere

i have bought some of the books - mostly used but it sure adds up

i found the Science 3-6 book online as an e-book here if anyone wants to read it:
    http://www.nationalstemcentre.org.uk...he-early-years

and the understanding and teaching primary maths book (the one they mention you'll have access to as an e-book) here to d-load:
    http://www.ziddu.com/download/165362...ited..pdf.html

Am getting anxious now about starting but am looking forward to meeting you all!

Nice to meet all the newcomers :-) I too bought 11 of the books last week and it cost me close to £200!

Looking forward to meeting you all soon. Feeling excited, nervous, apprehensive, uncertain and a little scared but I am sure it will be worth it in the end!

    Hey,

How is the preparation going? Student Finance is proving to be a nightmare. I actually applied back in March and it still isn't complete!

How exciting, not long until we all start. I bet you're all excited - my offer is subject to my Science GCSE. I actually sat the exam in June, I think it went well but it is now majorly playing on my mind! To do an equivalency test or not?

    How is everyone preparing?

    Hi all!

Has anyone got school observation sorted yet? I have no idea how to go about obtaining it! Do we have to find experience by Roehampton?

I am waiting to be paid before I buy the books! Did everyone get all the books or just a few?

    Starting to panic a little!

    Hey,

I've just been offered a room in halls. Linden 209. Has anyone else got their offer yet?

Your first placement can be at any school in England.

    Best wishes,

    Laura
