    Feinting is caused by lowered blood pressure, so the brain gets a reduced amount of oxygen - a vasovagal reaction. A psychological issue or trauma (even if it isn't a concious one) can cause this to happen. Lying down during and for a few minutes after the blood taking will usually block out any vasovagal reactions
