I call it "Remote" or "TV Remote" to distinguish it from my "XBOX remote (not controller, I know the difference)".

I don't know if it's just me/my family, or a local thing, but I always thought 'doofer' worked as another word like 'thingy'.

My family call it a 'didge'. I literally have no idea why, that's just what it is xD

I call it the remote. My English Language teacher from my old college calls it the "flicker-flacker".

I say remote but most of my family just call it a 'doo-flip'. I have no idea why

when I first saw this thread the first thought that came to mind was "pass me the food". Needless to say, I'm pretty darn hungry right now…

It's always been the 'jerk-off enabler', to me...

Or, alternatively, the 'fiddle flicker' :awesome:

I want to call it a 'Remote' but I tend to call it the 'Commander', weird, I know.

The remote/remote control. I have a friend who calls it 'tellybuttons' which I think is more fun

On a side note, for a second I thought this was a thread discussing Musical Youth 'Pass the dutchie' which I was a little disappointed about when I saw that it wasn't :emo:

Only at the age of 24 did I realise that 'phaser' is not another name for the remote. Despite hearing my Dad call it that when I was really little, and using it - unquestioned - through most of my adult life.
