Should i feel guilty for reporting my abusive boyfriend? watch

I'm in the same state my boyfirned has beaten me choked me out till I was unconscious bitten me all over given me black eyes and hurt in even more ways emotionaly '' I have been to the police station to and made a statement but now I'm feeling bad I don't want him sat in a cell for months with no one to talk to or no one to cuddle him when he's upset please can anyone give me any advice?? Thanks

I am really glad you got back in touch. What has happened to you is very, very serious. This has been going on for a long time and I am incredibly concerned about you.
It's really good that you went to the police, you were very brave but I know it's hard. What did they do? Are you safe now?
I think that it may be time for you to go to the refuge. The number to call is 0808 2000 247. They are open 24 hours a day and can tell you about the refuge with the nearest space to you.
I understand why you are worried about him, but he has chosen to abuse you, he is responsible and it is important that you are kept safe from him. He is very violent and as I said I am very worried about your safety.I don't want to scare you and make you feel worse, but it is important that you understand how serious this is. You mentioned in your earlier post that he was sorry but he has obviously not changed and the abuse is continuing.
There is help for you and for him. You deserve to be safe and if he engages, he will be able to get support to recognise his behaviour and try to change.

Does anyone else know what has been happening? Can you talk to friends or family? The more people that know the more support you will have and the safer you will be. Is he with the police at the moment? If he is let out on bail, it would be a good idea to have a safety plan in place but now is a good time to ring the refuge and go to a place of safety.

Have a look at the safety advice on this page for some tips:

How do you feel about ringing the helpline today? Please come back here any time to talk more,
    take care
