    Well it's rather obvious what causes most teenage suicides. The only difference between school shootings and suicides is the people who plan on throwing away their lives want to take it out on those who led them to the decision in the first place. The easy access to guns just makes it more likely to happen.

    Non-existent US mental healthcare + plenty of guns. It's obvious really. Guys like Lanza and Cho would have been sectioned years ago had they been in the UK.

    It's partly because they were starved of love from a young age which can lead to resentment and anger. They may have had a bad relationship with parents, family etc and decide to take it out on other people in different situations away from home. It may also result from bullying if they don't know how to deal with their feelings and also from mental health issues such as Schizophrenia.
