Why would you lock someone up for suffering an illness? What fault is theirs? Rather, they should be given treatment and released upon full recovery.
Because of the safety of the wider community so yes we lock up dangerous mental patients in secure mental hospitals. This has always been the case.

But are you saying these guys are mental? Is this what their layers have said?

what proof do you have for this?

are all muslims who murder people by decapitation mental or are they simply following what has been prescribed for them?

Reporting on the trial gives the murderers a 'celebrity' status. I guess certain papers are attempting to avoid giving these people any more coverage, and trying to prevent them from becoming figure heads or icons

I suspect it may also be to limit the fallout for the Muslim community as a whole.

    A sensible position to take

If found guilty, I would let them have sentencing and serve that sentence in the Islamic country of their choice.

I'm pretty sure that the only Middle Eastern state that doesn't have capital punishment as a criminal penalty is Israel.

    Actually almost forgot about that.

If it's shown they had mental health issues, then they shouldn't be persecuted at all.
they obviously had mental health issues

Is disgusting that they get a police escort to court while Lee Rigby's family have to make their own way there.

Right now it's pretty unlikely that anyone will attack Lee Rigby's family, but loads of people will want revenge on the killers. I think justice should be done the proper way rather than turning a blind eye while mobs carry out their form of 'justice'.

I understand what they did wasn't right, but I do hope they get some leniency. It's not like it was just another civilian or anything, was a British soldier who have an awful human rights track record. One should try to understand where the two suspects are coming from, seeing millions of lives ruined and thousands of people dying in part due to the UK's actions abroad.

I think it should be seen as a understandable (but still wrong) reaction to the real problem, which is this nations foreign policies. I believe this is the reason why people like the OP want a media blackout, as undeniably this will be a focus that people are too afraid (and embarrassed) to face.
****ing hell, I don't want a war in the Middle East, most people don't. What are you or I going to do about it. **** all, just post rubbish on TSR is what.

This was an appalling crime, instead of looking for reasons why it was right, we should be looking for reasons why it was wrong.

'Ah well, it was bad, BUT BE LENIENT WITH THEM', are you for real?

Not so much of a media blackout:

How anyone can even attempt to justify the murder off Lee Rigby is appalling, I understand the argument of that innocent people have died in the Middle East and what have you, but there is a war, so it is not even in the same chapter, let alone the same page of the book.

They should be hung, drawn and quartered.
