The US heeds Canada's calls to move its government, but we will not do so until it is absolutely necessary.(Original post by St. Brynjar)
The Dominion of Canada regretfully announces that the border will hereby be closed west of Lake Superior. The spread of this outbreak is unlike anything seen previously and our number one concern is keeping our citizens safe. We will happily accept refugees east of this point however, and will cooperate to the fullest with the United States, making every resource necessary available. We encourage the US government to relocate as a preemptive measure.
We are disappointed to hear Germany, Norway and Russia are not cooperating with us, but more so it saddens us that France will not be accepting our non-French citizens. France is one of our oldest and most historic allies and naturally our population is terrified by this news. It should be noted that there are no reported cases as of yet. We are delighted that the United Kingdom has not been so rash.
The Republic of South Africa calls upon the Security Council for clear leadership. We want to know when this meeting will occur and what will be discussed. Good intentions mean nothing without serious action. With no African representation on the Security Council we volunteer to take a lead for our continent on this issue. The plight of the US and its neighboring countries affects us all.
OOC: I'll write a news flash shortly for the meeting of world nations.

OOC: I didn't include the meeting within the news flash, it made sense for the US to call for one instead.
The United States of America has called a state of emergency and as a member of the MUN Security Council calls an immediate convening of the Council as well as the GA to discuss the latest developments, the potential for aid, the creation of refugee facilities, the supporting of the collaborative scientists and the dangers posed to Canada, and Central and South America. We call for this meeting to be held in New York as a sign of unity for the American people's at this time. Although this outbreak has so far affected only the American Continent, the US strongly advises Europe, Asia and Africa to remain alert until a cause of the outbreak can be determined. -

Meanwhile, Mexico have indicated that the outbreak has ravaged much of the nation and regretfully has spread into Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and areas of northern Colombia, unconfirmed sources suggest. Once the source of the outbreak can be determined, actions for all nations of the world will be recommended. -

Russia asks that the MUN should consider where we would move the location of the GA and SC if staying within New York presents too much of a risk. Russia proposes moving to one of the regional HQs of the MUN in Geneva, Vienna or Nairobi. We would like to hear other members views on this and also at what point do we declare New York unsafe.

Also Russia has passed an emergency law through the Duma that bans any transport from any country suspected of carrying this infection and also granting Russian security forces the ability to quarantine any persons or materials from those countries. We have also recommended all Russians withdraw from South and North America. Most flights to the Americas are currently suspended until further notice.

India concurs with both New Zealand's and Russia's statement.

Germany is suspending all flights and freight from North and South America, also all those who have traveled to the continents to head to a designated clinic to be tested for signs of the virus.
Although at the moment we suspect that Germany is clear of any outbreaks. Out scientist are working diligently on this along side other UN teams -

The People's Republic of China would like to announce, at this time, that we will be closing all borders to mainland China. The People's Liberation Army will be deployed along all land borders and have been given orders to shoot on sight anyone attempting to cross; their bodies will then be incinerated. The Navy will sink any vessel entering Chinese waters and the Air Force will shoot down any aircraft flying at an altitude of less than 30,000 feet.
Similar measures will be enforced on the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. No inter-regional travel will be permitted.
We apologise for the extreme measures but feel they are necessary to ensure the security of our great nation and its peoples. -

Russia ask that the PRC asks the people of Taiwan if they wish to be protected by the PRC. Cheap moves like this should not be done in crises such as these

Having transported French citizens back from the Americas we are now keeping such citizens under quarantine until such time we can establish they are free of the disease. We are beginning to set up border patrols and naval patrols to ensure the safety of France. We are still trading with European nations and will continue to do so. However, all imports coming into France will be more aggressively checked. We regret such high safety measures but the well being of our nation is of paramount importance. People with French passports will be allowed back into the country, subject to checks.
OOC: Can we have a provisional UK rep? I think if the disease spreads the UK would be on the front line. I'll set the election up later on but we've still got to wait 10 days.

Regrettably all international shipments (both import and export) will have to be suspended until this crisis is passed.
It would not be at all surprising if this were a result of the wrath and envy of the USA itself; a masterplan to bring down the Korean economy! We shall not stand for this nor allow it to go unpunished. We hereby mobilise our entire armed forces of 9.5 million soldiers and are in the process of activating long-range missiles to strike down the American fiends in their reign of chaos and darkness should they make a further act of aggression. -

As per Security Resolution 2013/06, which was passed by the Security Council last year, Taiwan is now sovereign territory of the People's Republic of China and exists as a Special Administrative Region. Additionally, the previous occupant of your office voted in favour of this decision. -

We highly protest this decision! Your magnificent, divine People's Republic is one of the few nations we've been able to trust in creating trade relations with. Withdrawing such trade immediately would have a devilishly destabilising effect upon our country. The DPRK urges you to reconsider this decision for your most loyal of allies.

India concurs with New Zealand in regards to this hostile act. We have already positioned a sizeable military force on our border and have multiple long-ranged missiles locked onto your co-ordinates. May we also remind you which nation is the technologically superior one.
If you shoot, then we shoot back.

China would be willing to open trade with the DPRK, provided they follow border controls set down by the Government of the PRC and allow the PLA to enforce these regulations, both in air and sea as well as on land borders with Russia and the South.
Under these conditions the PRC will be willing to continue trade with our great partner. It is regrettable that these actions must be taken, but they are for the safety of our people. -

Russia agrees with India and New Zealand as previously stated in the SC, Any act of aggression to the Russian Federation or one of our allies will result in this impending infection being the least of your worries.
India seconds this.
