What would you say is the most complicated stuff for the exam then? What are communication protocols and what type of things do we need to know for connectivity?

    What is:
    -open source software
    -phishing
-the difference between POP3 and IMAP4
    -cloud computing
    -latency
    -bandwidth
    -encryption

    1. Open source software is usually free and can be edited by everyone an example would be open office. The problem with open source software is that because so many people can edit the code it is targeted by hackers who install malware. Also open source software is most often not as advanced as the professionally made software in this example it would be Microsoft office.

    2. Phising is a type of malware which involves getting the private details and data of someone such as bank datails or adress. Phising is most often used with Pop-ups or E-mails.

    3. The difference between POP3 and IMAP4 is simple to explain they are both E-mail protocols but work differently. POP3 downloads the e-mail from the server to one device and than deletes it making it impossible for other devices to access the e-mail. IMAP4 does not download the e-mail it is viewed on the e-mail server so that other devices are still able to acces that e-mail.

    4. Cloud compting is saving data online on servers so that it can be accessed from anywhere at any time where there is an internet connection.

5.Latency the time delay between the moment something is initiated and the moment it becomes detectable.

    6. Brandwidth – the amount of data that can fit through an internet connection which is measured in bits per second

Because everyone knows what phishing, bandwidth, latency, DLNA, NFC and convergence are v_v

...although a lot of it IS common knowledge.

The textbook says RSS feeds are a web feed format used for content which is frequently updated, e.g. news, in a standard format so it can be added to a variety of websites.

I managed to gain 74/80 on the CW which is a clear A*. However on the mock, I got a very high A (2 marks off an A*). I am feeling a bit picky on this exam tomorrow.
