Top universities can see resit information, can't they?
Nope, not directly!

My TSR is dandy
It's not as bad today, but it was pretty slow last night (when this thread was created)

I'd rather have them shut down TSR on results day than have the delays that I'm getting.

Anyhows, results went up again - big surprise there. Umpteen retake opportunities without any penalties must make passing and getting A grades really difficult. Maths marks are up, and I'm sure that this was nothing to do with splitting P1-P3 into C1-C4 - similar material, but now even more dumbed down and split across 4 exams (counting for 2/3 of an A-Level, so you'd only need to do 2 Applied courses to get a whole A-Level) instead of 3 (ie. 1/2 an A-Level, so 3 Applied course would have been needed). I still believe that they should go back to the old A-Level system, where you sat all your exams at the end of the Upper Sixth - that would sort the people with real intellect from the people who have simply resat their exams four times, and only know a tiny amount of the whole course ar any given time.

Bring back the old 'A' level system! :p: 2-5 papers/subject, each paper lasting 3 hours, all taken within the span of ~3 weeks at the end of 2 years of education. Without any modular system, and hence no retakes either.

Think that sounds harsh? That was the way 10 years ago, and it's still the way in many parts of the world.

That sounds excellent - a much firmer test than the diluted crappy system that endures today.

That's what we do (even until today) here in Singapore. And there's no distinction made (formally, anyway) between the various 'A' level systems!

It's horrible though if someone were to have supposedly equal qualifications (A Levels), but one had the opportunity for retakes/modules, and the other didn't. Just doesn't measure up, but c'est la vie, really!

Perennial debate...

TSR was down for about five minutes last night, but it's been fine today.

Is that sad guy still here?

The one who would post pictures of his desktop covered with IRC bots, all busily DDoS'ing away at TSR, spending all his free time attacking an internet forum?

(Not the one who spent all day and night posting here instead of doing work or socialising... )

It was due to the heavy traffic and nothing more. Well that and maybe as LPK said H&R needed time to refresh.

EDIT: NViasko, next time, grow some *******s and POST. Or leave your name. I "know nothing"? WTF?
There was no point as it would have been apparent anyway, since you are a subscriber. I can distribute reputation for any reason of my choosing.
