    How?
Say yes to all opportunities hanging out with your flatmates.

Freshers will be drink-laden, but that's how things work.

You drink, you get to know each other better and have fun.

    Soon, it will die down.

    I don't drink and I don't want to. I can't think of anything worse than a night out. :/

You don't have to drink, but at least try going out.

Then you can act stupid without actually being stupid.

I think you'll have to do it tbh.

Then you can say to your flatmates, I don't drink and I don't like clubbing.

But that'll be the end of it re: nightlife.

There's a whole lot more to making friends than just nightlife.

The thing I'm worried about most is freezing up and making a situation worse. I freeze up when I try (I do try very hard to push myself) to talk to people. It's so embarrassing, I just want the ground to swallow me up.

Lauren annoyed me too. At first I felt a bit sorry for her but when she started getting angry about the hitler thing. It was a joke, i can't stand people who takes things completely unrelated to them so personally. I can't believe her flatmates had that much patience with her tbh
    I totally agree with you!

I agree I thought Lauren was annoying. However I can emphatise with the nazi thing, I defo wouldn't do it, i'm not jewish or anything but I think doing the salute of a group who killed almost 10 million people and almost wiped out an entire race is despicible.
and she was more emotionall invested it than me with anne frank being a hero and stuff

I definitely wouldn't do the nazi thing myself because I know it's wrong but I also understand that other people won't feel the same way that I do. I'm only responsible for my actions so unless someone is doing something to hurt me or someone else I would just leave them to be stupid and not participate. It kinda seemed like she was looking for reasons not to enjoy herself

    yeah that's fair enough.

I agree, I know she she has social anxiety but she could have least made an effort.
